Niet alleen de oorlogen zoals vaak in dit soort boeken maar vnl het leven aan het hof. Zijn familie, relaties, ministers en vijanden. De schrijver legt goed de verbanden met andere Staten en hoven maar ook soms naar de toekomst zonder de kern uit het oog te verliezen.
